I do reach a conclusion, but here are my ramblings as I discover data, Sarah Hardy's husband Osey Langley in Tuscaloosa was the same Osey who married Sarah Hardy in the home of "her brother" in Monroe GA, according to her widows pension for the Creek Indian Wars in Tuscaloosa which he joined in 1835 in AL. Her husband served in 1835 in AL and that when they moved to AL they stayed first in Tallapoosa AL. She states she had not been married before and that she married at the home of "her brother" in Monroe GA. They resided after their marriage for a couple years in Talbert Co GA. She is 86 years old at this application time- 6 June 1893. The marriage certificate is sent for and it is noticed by the pension office that the date differs from the one written in the Bible. I think that she may have purposely written the date of her marriage one year sooner in the Bible -because otherwise it make her marriage come 2 weeks after the birth of her first child, also written in the Bible. That wasn't so un-common in pioneer days if you were not rich. But it may have been why she wasn't mentioned in John Hardy's will in Opeleika AL. Maybe they were always at odds?
I dug up some Hardy information from 2003 and did not want it to get lost. Then I expanded on it. It looks to me like Sarah Hardy is not provable as yet as a sister to William W. Hardy and Charles Hardy- brothers- because she is not mentioned in their father's will, but not all supposed children are always mentioned. There are many wills where not all children are mentioned, especially when it is known that those children were well off and had no needs. Or did she marry against their wishes? Since she was married 1827 in her "brother's" home we find 1828 Tax digest with both Hardy's present in Monroe GA and in 1830 we find Wm W. Hardy present but no Charles Hardy. Had Charles gone to Lowndes MS? William W. Hardy was the executor of Charles Hardy's will in 1839 MONROE GA and asked to be excused in 1846.
We have:
1. William W. Hardy married Maty V. Lockhart, he was in GA from 1828 till his death at age 81 or 91 in 1880, preacher
2. Charles Hardy- preacher, married Emily Reynolds 2 Oct 1828 • Baldwin, Georgia and had 5 children, died before 1839 probably 1836 ? in Lowndes MS.

3. Sarah Hardy born ca 1807 married Osey Langley on 8 Feb 1827 in the home of her brother (not named) in Monroe Co. GA.
Osey Langley
(b. 1806, d. date unknown)
(son of William Langley and Martha Ann ?) was born 1806 in Edgefied, South Carolina, and died date unknown. He married Sarah Hardy on February 08, 1827 in Monore County Georgia.
Notes for Osey Langley:
Osey Langley married Sarah Hardy in Monroe County Georgia, in the home of Sarah`s brother,
by Spencer Sullivan ( justice of the peace) J.P.. They lived several years in Talbot County, GA.
Then in 1841 or 42 moved to Alabama; first to Talapoosa County then to Tyner in Tuscaloosa County, where they lived the remainder of their lives. Osey and Sarah raised the mulatto son of his father`s as one of his own children. His name was Jesse and he married Eliza Russel January 14, 1854.
Osey served as a Private in Captain Arnold Seal`s Company Georgia Vols in the Cherokee War of 1836. He enrolled in White Plains on June 2, 1836 and mustered out September 1, 1836, at LaFayette.
He is described at the time of his enlistment as being about six feet with blue eyes, sandy hair and light complexion.
On September 5, 1858, Osey and Sarah`s daughter Julia, (or Julian) married James Burns in Osey`s home. James Burns was underage and his mother, Caroline, signed her permission for the wedding. Interestingly , Osey was shot by and Alexander Burns five years later on June 18, 1863, and died from the injuries October 9, 1863. His will states the nature of his death: " I, Osey Langley , having been so injured by wounds inflicted by Alexander Burns by shots today that I do not think my recovery probable." Osey first and foremost makes provision for all debts to be paid. His wife Sarah is to recieve the balance of his estate. He also makes provision for the rearing and education of his minor children, Ema, Eli, George and Margarette, in the event of Sarah`s death. Osey`s friend, Richard McLester was appointed as executor of the estate. Eli was 17 years old when his father died.
In 1893 Shara applied for Osey`s veteran`s pension based upon his service. At the time of application she is noted to be 86 years old, and is described as "an aged and infirm widow in destitute circumstances-being wholly without means of support." Also it was mentioned that at this time she was "sick and unable to
procure necessaries, or medical treatment." After about a year of depostions and inquries Sarah finally did draw Osey`s pension. She died March 12, 1900. The pension commissioner`s notation of her death list her last pension payment from February, 1900, as $8.00.
Copy of Osey Langley`s will and obituary:

Alabama Court Records: Book 3 p. 159 18 June 1863-24 Oct. 1863
"I Osey Langley, having been so injured by wounds inflicted by Alexander Burns by shots today
that I do not think my recovery probable. I do therefore make and publish this my last will and testment revoking all former wills by me at any time made. My will is that all my just debts be paid, and in
order to accomplish that object as soon as practicable I desire that my executor sell all my effects, land, stock, crops and so, as soon after my decease as in his opinion the interest of my estate will permit, and after paying all my just debts, my will is that my wife Sarah Langley have absoutely in her own right all the balance of the proceeds of my estate during her natural life. At her death if there should be any of my estate remaining after supporting, raising and educating my minor children (to wit, Ema, Eli, George, and Margarette) I wish it equally divided among all my children and having confidence in my friend Richard McLester, I do appoint him my executor to dispose of and settle my estate according to the provisions of this my will.

Conclusion:
I have thought long and hard about this Sarah Hardy. Likelyhood is that her last name really was Hardy since in her pension application she states states under oath that she was not married before she married Osey Langley. So there are 4 possibilities that I can think of (there may be more) about why she wasn't mentioned in the will of the father of Charles and William Hardy- John Hardy in Opeleika AL.
1. Sarah was an orphaned Hardy cousin brought up as a sister to Charles and William and therefore wasn't mentioned in John Hardy's will.
2. Sarah was estranged from her father because of the circumstances of her marriage. In her pension application the interviewer calls her out on the fact that her Bible entry for her wedding date varies by a year from the date given by the Justice of the Peace who married her in Monroe GA. Her first child written in the Bible was born about 2 weeks later than the marriage recorded in Monroe GA. I believe she might have fudged in the Bible when it was written in in order not to be embarrassed about her having a child before she is married. She does agree and testify that indeed she was married in 1827 and simply "forgot" and I can't see that she would forget such a thing as her marriage and her first child. After awhile she stops recording children in the Bible- I think she is too busy and too tired and maybe doesn't even have anything to write with. After all I find evidence of at LEAST 19 children born to her. Perhaps her first child is another man's and Osey stepped up to save her from shame. Or it was his and when he came back from a trip to AL the baby had been born and he decided to do right by her.On the other hand the children's birth states are all given as Alabama from 1828 onward, yet she says she lived in Talbot Co GA after she was married and then went to Tallapoosa AL before going to Tuscaloosa AL about 1834. So why does she state all the children as being born in AL.
3. She is the daughter of William Hardy and Mary Cartledge and ended up at her brother (unknown Hardy and not Charles or William W.) but a brother Hardy who was not in the tax list because he didn't own any land yet or was there only briefly. The Hardy family from Edgefield including William Hardy and mary Cartledge moved down to Alabama starting about 1820 and rode back and forth between Edgefield. AT first they were in Lowndes and Montgomery Counties but then some moved up to Tallapoosa and Tuscaloosa. That may be the connection between Sarah and all her children being born in AL even though she states she was living in :Talbert" GA. I think she means either Talbot Co GA or Talbert in Edgefield SC. So if some one can find evidence of one of these Hardy brothers in 1827 Monroe GA or nearby, it may solve the problem:
William Hardy's (wife Mary Cartledge) known children were
1. Sarah Hardy b: 1807 in Edgefield Co., SC
2. Robert L. Hardy b: 1811 in Edgefield Co., SC
3. John Hardy b: 1813 in Edgefield Co., SC married Eliza
4. Edmund C. Hardy b: ABT 1814 in Edgefield Co., SC
5. Ann Williams Hardy b 26 Jan 1816 Edgefield Co., SC d 21 Nov. 1852 married Boaz
6. Margaret Hardy b 12 May 1819 died 26 May 1833 in Dallas Co
7. Mary Hardy b 12 August 1821 AL d. 21 May 1865
8. poss. Arlitha who m Lewis L. Pearce, son of Moses
8. Martha Hardy b 1824 AL m. Peter Webster
9. Eliza Hardy AL b 1826
10. Caroline C. Jane Hardy b. 11 July 1828 AL died 12 Sept. 1856 married Joseph E.Cartledge (Mary´s nephew b. 5 MAY 1823)
11. Amanda Frances Hardy b 3 Jan. 1833 AL d. 5 May 1863
4. Most of all I realize that in his Will John Hardy only gave to his orphaned grandchildren, with the exception of Leslie who got his carriage. He didn't give to any child who was healthy and still had a husband or wife. He was protecting his grandchildren. So it is my opinion that Sarah Hardy is the daughter of John Hardy and his wife.

Sarah Hardy married Osey Langley on 8 Feb 1827 in the home of her brother (not named) in Monroe Co. GA. The 1828 Tax digest for Monroe Co. has two Hardys- Charles Hardy and William W. Hardy. [W.W.Hardy 1799 NC is in 1840 Monroe GA, as well as the widow of Charles (Emaly age 40-49).] I recently obtained a copy of a page from her family bible (Osey and Sarah Langleys). Her birth date is given as 16 Jan 1807. The last digit is not clearly either a '1' or a '7,' which is closer to the year given in this family.
Supposing one of them was her brother I have looked at both of them. Charles died in Tuscaloosa, AL and his will was probated by William W. Hardy in Lowndes, MS and also recorded in Edgefield Co., SC.
"Looking at probate records in Monroe County where I had expected to find several probates for Hardys I found only one, and it was for a will that was probated in Lowndes County, Mississippi.
Int Vols. A-B 1824-1866. FHL 0164231. Found a Charles Hardy on page 464.
Georgia Monroe County } Court of Ordinary January Term 1839. The last will and testament of Charles Hardy deceased having been duly proven and admitted to record in the Court of Probate in the County of Lowndes and State of Mississippi and a copy thereof duly certified, being produced at this regular term of the Court for record by James J. Banks and William W. Hardy two of the executors in said will named.
It is ordered by the that said will be admitted to record by this Court and that Letters testamentary issue to said James J. Banks and William W. Hardy."
Charles Hardy left a wife Emily and 5 children (not named) and gave title to a lot of land in Lowndes, MS. Their copy of the probate indicated that a search of the land records turned up nothing......
Now the will was probated in 1839. My Osey and Sarah (Hardy) Langley came to Tuscaloosa in the 1840s.
Further research showed that there is a Charles Hardy and a William W. Hardy who are ministers (Methodists). The source: Methodist Preachers in Georgia 1783-1900 mentions that Charles had ill health. The last record is in 1837.
The William W. Hardy that was a Methodist is list in the above source as living from: 8-23-1799 to: 3-26-1880. A hundred and one years old!
The above William Hardy's Methodists record says that he married Mary V. Lockhart. The Monroe Co., William W. Langley's wife's name was Mary.

It is believed that there were four original Hardy brothers who migrated to the area from Lunenburg County, Virginia. Two married Bailey sisters and two married Allison sisters. The Hardys owned land near Smith Oaks plantation southeast of Artesia to near the Tombigbee River. CHarles and William W. were from NC however.

I am in total agreement with the forgoing analysis. Thank you so much for your objective discussion and help.
